Fuel Sector Tax Evasion Operation: 6 Companies Seized

A large-scale operation was conducted in 9 provinces, including Istanbul, targeting companies in the fuel sector for tax evasion through fake invoices and fictitious exports. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made statements about the operation, announcing that 6 companies were seized, 10 companies were assigned trustees, and 27 suspects were subject to legal proceedings. The operation, carried out in coordination with the Istanbul Gendarmerie Command, Tax Inspection Board, MASAK, General Directorate of Customs Protection, EPDK, and TMSF, revealed significant details. Minister Gürlek stated that during the investigation, it was found that a company operating in the fuel sector had imported approximately 350-400 thousand tons of LPG annually and attempted to evade the resulting VAT and special consumption tax liabilities through fake invoices and fictitious exports.
