Major Hike in Fuel Prices

Fluctuations in global petroleum prices and exchange rates continue to impact fuel prices. As of August 11, 2026, a 2.08 lira increase was made to gasoline, with 1.56 lira of this increase being directly reflected at the pump. This increase led to a redefinition of gasoline and diesel prices in major cities. Exchange rate fluctuations, changes in Brent oil prices, and increases in Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) have increased the pressure for price hikes in the fuel market. Market experts warn that if the volatility in global energy markets continues, the upward pressure on fuel prices may persist.
