Judicial Holiday Begins: Which Courts Will Be Open?
The judicial holiday starts tomorrow. During this period, on-duty courts will operate in courthouses. The question of which courts will be open during the judicial holiday is being wondered. On-duty committees will work in the high judiciary bodies, the Council of State and the Court of Cassation. The on-duty committee to be assigned in the Council of State will not be able to make decisions on the merits and will only be able to decide on requests for a stay of execution. In the Court of Cassation, two on-duty chambers, one for criminal and one for civil cases, will operate. The on-duty criminal chamber will handle files related to detained defendants. The Constitutional Court is not within the scope of the judicial holiday. After the start of the new judicial year, the trial of cases considered important by the public in the capital will continue. In this context, the trial of the case of 76 defendants related to the Ayhan Bora Kaplan crime organization, which was overturned by the court of appeal on September 3, will continue. On September 17, the trial of 9 defendants related to the FETÖ financing case and the trial of the defendant Ümitcan Uygun, who is accused of "encouraging suicide, strengthening the decision to commit suicide" and "tormenting" in the case of Sema Esen, known as "Aleyna Çakır" in public, will be held.
