Poverty and Hunger Thresholds Announced: 116,000 Lira for a Family of Four

The results of the Turkish Confederation of Labor's (TÜRK-İŞ) research on poverty and hunger thresholds for June have been announced.
Accordingly, the monthly food expenditure for a family of four is 35,758.88 lira. When other necessary expenses such as clothing, housing, transportation, education, and health are added to food expenses, the poverty threshold rises to 116,478.40 lira.
The monthly cost of living for a single worker is calculated to be 46,248.50 lira.
According to TÜRK-İŞ data, the hunger threshold was at 26,115.18 lira a year ago.
The statement notes that while the prices of basic food products in markets have been more stable, this has not alleviated the burden on citizens.
According to the kitchen inflation data, the minimum expenditure that a family of four must make for food increased by 1.66% on a monthly basis and 36.93% over twelve months.
