A Close Call: Hasty Intervention Almost Turns Deadly in Overheating Car Incident

In Erzurum, 61-year-old Lütfü Korkmaz was traveling with his grandchildren when his car overheated. Despite his best intentions, Korkmaz's hasty attempt to address the issue resulted in severe burns from the scalding water bursting from the radiator hose. The incident left Korkmaz with second-degree burns on his face and body. Korkmaz had pulled over to the side of the road and attempted to inspect the car's fan system, which was not functioning properly. However, the excessive heat caused the radiator hose to burst. Korkmaz suffered burns to his abdomen, chest, face, and various parts of his body and was rushed to Oltu State Hospital before being transferred to Erzurum City Hospital's Burn Treatment Center. During his hospitalization, Korkmaz reflected on the consequences of his hasty actions. Motor expert Cengiz Kocaoğlu also emphasized the importance of allowing an overheating vehicle's engine to cool down in a safe area before attempting any interventions.
