US Senator Murphy Criticizes Trump: War with Iran Has Been Lost
US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy stated that Trump has lost the war with Iran. Murphy argued that the cost of reopening the Strait of Hormuz is increasing day by day, which has weakened America while strengthening Iran. Murphy criticized the Trump administration for the war that began with US and Israeli attacks on Iran, during an appearance on an NBC News program. He suggested that a potential deal with Iran could involve paying the Tehran administration $100 billion annually in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Murphy stated, "Donald Trump has lost this war. America is weaker, and Iran is stronger. The cost of reopening the Strait is increasing every day." Murphy argued that such a payment would be a "victory" for Iran, enabling the Tehran administration to support its military and proxy forces in the region. Emphasizing the need for an end to attacks on Iran, Murphy stated that the US has been weakened in this process. Murphy expressed his willingness to support a potentially bad deal to end the war and reopen the Strait, as it is the only available option. He also stated that he would not support financing to replenish US ammunition stocks to continue attacks but would be willing to work on replenishing used ammunition if a deal with Iran is reached and the attacks cease.
