Temporary Protected Status Program Ends in the US

US Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin announced that the Temporary Protected Status program has ended. As a result, individuals benefiting from this status must now leave the US.
Mullin stated in an interview with Fox News, "The Temporary Protected Status has ended. These individuals must return to their countries."
The Department of Homeland Security is prepared to cover the flight tickets and provide a payment of $2,600 to those who wish to leave voluntarily, while those who do not wish to return will be deported forcibly, according to Mullin.
Mullin noted that some individuals have been living in the US under this status for over 15 years, but emphasized that the Temporary Protected Status was never intended to be a permanent program.
Mullin also stated that the number of deportations from the US in the next six weeks to two months is expected to exceed the total number of deportations in 2025.
