US Job Openings Surpass Expectations in May

The number of job openings in the US surpassed expectations in May. The total number of job openings in the country increased by 9,000 from the previous month to 7,594,000. The expected number of job openings for this period was 7,280,000, but the actual figure exceeded this. This is the highest level of job openings since May 2024, surpassing market expectations.The wholesale trade sector led the increase in job openings in May. The number of hires decreased by 45,000 to 5,170,000. The number of people who left their jobs, including those who quit and were laid off, increased by 63,000 to 5,101,000.
