US and Iran Agree to Extend Ceasefire

Pakistani government officials announced that the US and Iran have agreed to extend the 60-day ceasefire agreement.The 60-day period granted under the Islamabad Agreement, brokered by Pakistan, was set to expire next week. However, the parties agreed to continue the ceasefire just before the deadline.Yesterday, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi visited Tehran to meet with Iranian officials as part of efforts to mediate between Iran and the US. This visit came a month after Iranian Interior Minister Iskander Momeni visited Islamabad to meet with his Pakistani counterpart.
