US Defense Department Announces First Payment to 'Havana Syndrome' Victims

The US Defense Department announced that it has made the first compensation payment to personnel affected by the so-called 'Havana syndrome'.The department stated that this payment of approximately $3 million is the first under the HAVANA Act during any presidency.According to the statement, 'The Department prioritizes the care of affected personnel and has so far made approximately $3 million in compensation payments.''Havana syndrome', also known as anomalous health incidents, refers to a series of unexplained neurological symptoms. These symptoms have been detected in US diplomats, family members, and other government officials serving in various countries since the mid-2010s.
