US Invests Heavily in 'Doomsday Plane'
The Pentagon has signed a $984 million contract for the modernization and maintenance of the E-4B 'Doomsday Plane', which serves as a military command center in the event of a nuclear war.The agreement, signed with Strategic Mission Systems, aims to modernize and provide technical maintenance for the E-4B fleet. The project is scheduled to be completed by June 24, 2037. The US Air Force has taken new steps due to the aging of the current E-4B fleet. The Pentagon is also seeking a budget of $2.2 billion for the development of new generation E-4C 'Doomsday Plane' aircraft to replace the existing ones. These aircraft serve as a mobile command center in the air in the event of a nuclear war, global conflict, or destruction of ground command centers. Designed to provide complete protection against the high heat and electromagnetic waves generated by nuclear explosions, these planes enable the US President, Secretary of Defense, and senior military officials to manage the entire US military from the air, including nuclear weapons.
