US Strikes Iran in Response to Attack on Cargo Ship in Hormuz Strait

The US Central Command announced that it carried out strikes against Iran on June 26 in response to an attack on a commercial vessel in the Hormuz Strait.
The US aircraft targeted Iran's missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar sites. The attack came after Iran launched a one-way drone strike against the 'M/V Ever Lovely' cargo ship on June 25. The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Hormuz Strait off the coast of Oman when it was attacked.
CENTCOM stated that Iran's 'unjustified attack' on commercial shipping constituted a breach of the ceasefire and threatened freedom of navigation in a critical waterway used by international trade. Meanwhile, Iranian media reported hearing explosion sounds in the city of Sirik.
