US Halts Strikes Against Iran to Allow for Diplomacy

US Halts Strikes Against Iran to Allow for Diplomacy
The tension between the US and Iran continues despite the Islamabad Agreement. A US official stated that the Washington administration intentionally halts military strikes against Iran from time to time to avoid escalating tensions and to allow for diplomatic progress. The US and Iran signed the Islamabad Agreement, but the tension between the two countries persists. According to a CNN report, the Washington administration is giving diplomacy a chance by periodically halting military strikes against Iran. The Islamabad Agreement, aimed at ending the conflict between Iran and the US, was signed on June 14. Under the agreement, the parties agreed on a 60-day negotiation period to reach a comprehensive agreement. However, the US military launched new strikes against Iran on July 8. In response, Iran began carrying out retaliatory strikes against US bases in neighboring countries.
