US Secretary of State Rubio: 'We Are Ready to Play a Constructive Role in Resolving the Ukraine Crisis'

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made statements to the press after his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Manila. Rubio described the contacts as 'a good and sincere conversation', stating that various topics besides Ukraine were also discussed.Regarding the process of ending the conflict in Ukraine, Rubio stated that Washington is willing to take an active role, saying

We are ready to play a constructive role in ending the conflict and we intend to do so. However, new ideas and proposals are needed to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
