US Completes First Tests of Golden Dome Project

The US Space Force has completed the first tests of space-based interceptors as part of the Golden Dome missile defense program. The Golden Dome project has entered a new phase. Project leader General Michael Guetlein announced that the initial tests have been successfully completed and the next test phase has begun. The initial tests included data transfer from sensors to an interceptor and testing of propulsion systems used in space vehicles. The Golden Dome project, announced by US President Donald Trump in May 2025, is expected to cost approximately $175 billion. Designed as a multi-layered missile defense system, the Golden Dome aims to integrate land, sea, and space-based systems into a single structure. The first major test under the program is scheduled to take place in late 2028.
