35 Provinces on Yellow and Orange Alert: Risk of Flash Floods and Floods

The Meteorology General Directorate has issued yellow and orange warnings for 35 provinces. While a 10-degree drop in air temperatures is expected, authorities have also warned against the risk of floods. Turkey has come under the influence of cool and rainy weather from the Balkans. According to the latest assessments by the Meteorology General Directorate, the northern, central, and western parts of Turkey are expected to be partly cloudy, with rain and thunderstorms in Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Western and Central Black Sea, Gaziantep, Kilis, and Trabzon. The rains are expected to be heavy in the southern and eastern parts of Marmara, the inner regions of the Eastern Mediterranean, the northwestern parts of Central Anatolia, and the northern parts of Eskişehir, Konya, Kayseri, Sivas, and Antalya, as well as in the surrounding areas of Çankırı, Karabük, Bolu, and Hatay's coastal regions.

Yellow alert has been issued for Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çankırı, Eskişehir, Hatay, Kayseri, Kırşehir, Konya, K.Maraş, Niğde, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Yozgat, Kırıkkale, Yalova, Karabük and Osmaniye.

The air temperatures, which are currently around seasonal normals, are expected to drop significantly in the northern and western regions, below the seasonal averages. The wind is expected to blow from the north, with moderate speeds, and occasionally strong in the Egean coastal areas and Marmara.
