19-Year-Old Murder Case Solved: Man Who Forced Woman into Prostitution Killed
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced the results of the investigation into the identity of a body found in Batman's Kozluk district in 2007. The body, which was identified as belonging to Aydın Özcan, is believed to have been killed by his family 19 years ago for forcing a woman into prostitution and cutting her nose.

As a result of the determined investigation of the Batman and Kozluk Chief Public Prosecution Offices and the patient research of the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) and our law enforcement units, it has been determined by DNA analysis that the body belongs to Aydın Özcan, who had no official record since 2007.

As part of the investigation, 10 suspects were taken into custody. According to the statement of the woman who lived with Özcan, she was forced into prostitution by Özcan and that his family may have committed the murder for "honor". Once the body was identified as belonging to Aydın Özcan, field studies by law enforcement revealed that he was killed by his brothers and thrown into the Şat Stream. The DNA samples taken from Özcan's daughters and the DNA obtained from the found body were compared, and it was understood that the body belonged to Özcan.
