17-Year-Old Baby Murder Mystery Solved: The Truth Behind the Fingerprints on the Bag

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the case of a baby found dead in a dumpster in Bandırma 17 years ago has been solved. In his statement on social media, Minister Gürlek stated that the case files that could not be solved for years are being re-examined under the coordination of the Department of Investigation of Unsolved Crimes. During the re-examination of the case, a fingerprint belonging to the suspect U.C. was found on the bag where the baby was discovered. Witness statements, prison visit records, identification procedures, and DNA analysis by the Forensic Medicine Institution revealed that the suspect is the baby's biological father. The suspect U.C. was arrested and sent to a penal institution for 'wilful murder of a child or a person who cannot defend themselves physically or mentally'. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek emphasized that solving unsolved cases is of great importance for ensuring justice.
