Putin Was One of the First Leaders to Support Erdogan on July 15
Recalling the events of July 15, 2016, when the Turkish people demonstrated their will and adhered to the constitutional order, Turkey's Ambassador to Moscow, Tanju Bilgiç, emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin was one of the first leaders to express support for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. President Putin was among the first leaders to offer support to President Erdogan during the events of July 15. Russia was one of the countries that recognized the true nature of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and took action. Ambassador Bilgiç views President Erdogan's first foreign visit in August 2016 to Russia as an important indicator of the trust between the two countries. The relationship between Turkey and Russia is based on agreement on state sovereignty, constitutional order, and non-interference in internal affairs. The two countries continue to advance on solid foundations, with cooperation in various fields and mutual respect.
