New Era for Mandatory Traffic Insurance: What Will It Cover Starting July 1?

A new era for traffic insurance will begin on July 1, 2026. Accordingly, applications for material damage coverage for vehicles involved in accidents will include the cost of damage to the vehicle and loss of value. A new application will be introduced for value loss claims, and the rules for using original parts will change. The regulation also redefines the situations in which insurance companies can reclaim from the insured. According to this, if the driver leaves the scene of the accident or prevents the preparation of necessary documents such as the accident detection report or alcohol report, without a valid reason such as ensuring their safety or taking the injured to a healthcare facility, the insurance company can demand the paid compensation back from the insured.
