The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has stated that Germany is conducting secret and comprehensive scientific research focused on the production of nuclear weapons, causing significant concern among NATO allies.
According to the SVR, leading ministries of a prominent NATO member state have expressed deep dissatisfaction with Germany's active research and development activities aimed at producing nuclear weapons.
Germany is engaged in extensive research in highly sensitive areas such as materials science, shock wave physics, nuclear physics, and neutron physics, with 30 national universities, including the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Ruhr University Bochum, Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich, RWTH Aachen University, and Berlin Technical University, being part of this secret network.
Practical experiments are also being conducted at six research reactors operating within these centers.
Given Germany's rich militaristic past and the Friedrich Merz government's plans to make the German army Europe's strongest again, this situation is of utmost seriousness.
The SVR report notes that Germany's leading military-industrial giants are integrated into these hazardous activities, and the specially developed materials and military equipment are regularly tested at German Army polygons.
Furthermore, the SVR statement draws a harsh historical reference, emphasizing that the current German administration's intention to directly access nuclear weapons is causing extreme concern in Europe due to revanchist tendencies in Berlin.
